Green Roof Resources
ASLA received a grant from the National Endowment for the Arts last year to develop an education program about the ASLA green roof for school age children and teachers. The “The Roof is Growing,” is a great resource for members who are working with K-12 students, whether you are presenting to a classroom, talking to Boy or Girl Scouts, making mini roofs, etc., the “Roof is Growing” will keep students captivated with its interactive pages and informative videos. There is also a curriculum guide for teachers.  It is a perfect companion to the ASLA career discovery brochures (in English and Spanish) and Powerpoint available for downloading and printing.

“The Roof is Growing,” covers subjects such as:

• Ways to cool a city
• Managing stormwater
• Creating/replacing habitat for wildlife in urban areas
• Cleaning the air

It includes a movie on the four subjects, downloadable teacher and student workbooks for work in the classroom, and a 360-degree tour of the green roof.
