  • ASLA’s Green Roof Task Force has reviewed the final structural engineering report on the ASLA roof and is discussing next steps, including options for improved access to the roof.

  • The abstracts from Safe Spaces: Designing for Security and Civic Values continue to receive attention. Since August 5, there have been 26,633 downloads. The news release is located at http://www.asla.org/nonmembers/publicrelations/pressreleases/press04/pressrelease080504.htm.

  • The online press release publicizing the ASLA 2004 Professional Awards has generated more than 11,000 visits to date. Major feature articles with photos have appeared in in AIArchitect, the AIA’s member newsletter, http://www.aia.org/aiarchitect/thisweek04/tw0903/0903asla.htm, and in the September issue of Garden Design in the “From the Editor” column.

  • Key industry media have been invited to attend the Annual Meeting and EXPO, offering complimentary registration and access to the ASLA Press Room. Sally D. Benson, e ditor, American Nurseryman and Susan Porter, editor, Landscape Design/Build, have already responded that they will be attending.

  • LAND Online's new design has been very well received by the membership. Please let ASLA Online Committee Chair Carl Kelemen know how you feel about it…what works and what doesn’t.

  • As of September 3, nearly 1050 books in the ASLA's library collection have been cataloged. The library uses Readerware, a basic cataloging system that allows the librarian to search for books by title, author, subject, and keyword. This cataloging system will make it easier to retrieve information about ASLA's collection for staff, members, and non-members who seek information within the collection.

  • The ASLA Continuing Professional Education Provider (CPE) program has added the Aqua Show, to be held in Las Vegas on November 9-11, 2004, and the U.S. Green Building Council’s International Conference and Expo, to be held in Portland on November 10-12, 2004, to the list of single event providers. The complete list of CPE providers is posted on ASLA Online.

  • Registration continues to increase for the 2004 annual meeting . The early bird deadline for registration is September 20; the hotel room blocks and special rates end on October 4.   • Three of the Friday, October 29, tours are now sold out. The annual meeting update section on the web http://www.asla.org/meetings/am2004/page11.html contains this type of information.

  • The goal for the 2004 EXPO has been exceeded and sales are continuing. 632 exhibitors will there!!!
