ASLA Executive Committee Conference Call: July 8, 2003
Summary of Discussion and Actions

1. Green Roof Proposal. ASLA is reviewing headquarters building and the possibility of installing a "green roof." CFO Beaulieu has had a preliminary discussion with a structural engineer to complete a structural assessment to determine if a green roof would be appropriate/feasible. Investigation of green roof costs/benefits for ASLA continue.

2. Committee Appointments. Work has begun on reviewing committees and preparing for the 2004 appointment process. President Jacobson hopes to complete committee appointments prior to the annual meeting so that new members can participate in committee meetings held in New Orleans.

3. Rails-to-Trails Conservancy Award Program. ASLA co-sponsored Rails-to-Trails Conservancy and the trail design awards. Trustee Jim Donovan, ASLA, served as a juror for the awards.

4. Honorary Member Nominations. Nominations are due August 15; the Execom will short-list nominations during its September 9 conference call; and the BOT will make final selections at its October 29-30 meeting in New Orleans.

5. APEX Awards. Landscape Architecture magazine and LAND Online both won awards of excellence from APEX, the Awards for Publication Excellence.
